Ford Mustang EcoBoost Runs 11s 1/4 Mile with Turbo
The all new 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost is the most fuel efficient muscle car in America. Well many would say that isn't a muscle car without a v8! But with 310 horsepower and 320lb-ft of torque, it is still a great deal of fun to drive. The turbocharged 2.3L EcoBoost engine doesn’t pack the punch or the roar of the V8 in the Mustang GT, but it is a far more exciting engine option than the entry level V6 in stock form. Face it too, it has more horsepower than V8 GT's used to have!
Most importantly, owners have found that with a little work, the Ford Mustang EcoBoost can lay down real muscle car horse power and one of the leaders in modern Mustang performance is the Lethal Performance. They put together a turbo kit that nearly doubles the output of the 2.3L 4-cylinder engine, allowing it to run down the quarter mile in 11.1 seconds and best of all – this kit doesn’t change any of the engine internals. So it's essentially a "Bolt On".
Lethal Performance 11 Second EcoBoost Mustang
Lethal Performance fitted a 2015 Mustang with a bigger turbocharger, intercooler, new fittings and all new piping. Along with these upgrades they've upgraded the fuel system and of course gave it a good tune. On the dyno his 4 cylinder EcoBoost made 544 horsepower and 614lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels. That is not too shabby from a car that gets 30 plus MPG! So with all the upgrades Lethal Performance rocketed this little 2.3 liter down the 1/4 mile in 11.1 seconds @ 125 mph. Sure the EcoBoost Mustang was designed for efficiency but it's but at all bad that you can double the horsepower of this little pony with a simple Turbo Kit upgrade. Lethal Performance sell their kit for around $4,500.00. Check out the pass in the video below.
